MOUNTFORD ESTATE
Gradient pinot noir 2006
This is the first time that we think a single vineyard Pinot Noir is warranted from Mountford Estate.
The three barrels of wine are made from one acre of high density planted vines on the slopes of Mountford Estate.
The Gradient Vineyard is sheltered from undesirable weather influences and has maximum exposure to light and heat. The grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch fermented in new Burgundian barrels. The wine is then aged in the same barrels for eighteen months.
This wine is extremely intense and concentrated in all ways.
Words do not do this wine justice. Wine maker, CP Lin believes that this is the best Pinot Noir he has made up to now. This Pinot Noir is unlike any other Pinot Noir ever made in New Zealand.
Only a limited amount of this wine is availablewithin New Zealand.
All tasting notes are valid and correct for one year from the date of writing.
Bottle age and tasting conditions will change the qualitative descriptive analysis.
